{JPEG FAQ}

Want a special photo card but don’t have the time or finances to order them? At Lil’ Sprout Greetings, we understand that time and money affect purchasing decisions, so we offer what we believe is a fast, easy, and cost effective option for purchasing photo cards. We offer an electronic (JPEG) file of your greeting that allows you to print the design on your own. Once you purchase our JPEG option, you can print as many cards as you need, when you need them (even the same day!).  Below are some frequently asked questions regarding our JPEG photo card option.

What is a JPEG file?

A JPEG is just a type of file that we use to send you your photo card. This format is used because it is a standard type of file that every printer should be able to use, and it allows for a high quality image. The digital photos on your computer are most likely in a JPEG format. If you prefer your electronic file in an additional format, we would be happy to include the file in a .PNG, .BMP, or other format (.PSD not included).

How long does it take to receive the file?

You will receive your proof within 24 hours of order submission, and if you request changes to the proofs, it may take a day longer for a second set of proofs. The more specific you are in the ordering process, the sooner we can get your final proof to you.

How much does the JPEG option cost?

Our JPEG option is available for a fee of $18 - $25. Cost varies according to the complexity and number of photos on the card.  This price includes a high resolution JPEG file of your photo card, which you can use to print as many invitations as you need. Please see the individual product page to view exact pricing for your design.

Where and how can I get my photo cards printed?

You can use the file to get your photo cards printed at any place that does regular photo printing. Simply upload the file as you would any regular photograph, or save the file to a disc to take to the lab for printing. Places such as Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid, Snapfish, Winkflash, Shutterfly, Kodak, etc. are able to print the photo cards. You can also print them at home on your printer.  If you are not familiar with the photo lab that you are using, we highly recommend doing a test print before printing the entire lot of greeting cards that you need. Some labs do not calibrate their printers on  a regular basis, which can lead to color discrepancies. Your JPEG file will be embedded with the color profile that will allow it to print accurately on a calibrated printer. As a result, we are not responsible for color discrepancies, as they would be due to the photo lab. A test print will also allow you test for cropping issues. Cropping naturally occurs during the printing process, which is why we automatically build in a .25 inch margin on your design. This should be more than ample room to counteract any cropping that may take place.

Where do I get envelopes?

Envelopes are not included with our JPEG option. If you would like to purchase envelopes from us, the cost is 10 cents per envelope  plus the cost of shipping. Envelopes can also be purchased at Staples, Office Depot, craft stores such as AC Moore, or through several online retailers. We recommend www.paper-papers.com or www.actionenvelope.com. Envelope sizes are as follows:

4x6 inch card = A4 envelope

5x7 inch card = A7 envelope

Can I have my cards printed on cover stock/card stock?

Sure. If you wish to have your cards printed on cover stock or card stock, we recommend that you choose a printer before ordering your card. Some companies such as Vista Print require the card to be designed on one of their templates to ensure margin requirements are met. These templates are blank templates that simply show margin lines. We can download the templates after we are notified of the printer you will be using.

What if the printer refuses to print my card without a release?

Due to copyright laws, some companies refuse to print works that appear to be professional without a release from the creator. The release simply states that ownership of the photo card design has been transferred to you, the purchaser and that you have permission to print the photo card in any format and quantity that you desire. If you believe you may need a release form, we would be happy to provide you with one upon request.
